About & Disclaimer

Hi! I’m Darkowaa. I hope this blog stirs your interest in reading African novels or books written by people of African descent – in Africa and the diaspora!

I love the following genres:

  • African Literature
  • African-American or Black Literature
  • Caribbean Literature

Reading these genres is a hobby I thoroughly enjoy. I prefer novels written by Africans/persons of the African diaspora because they excite me, they are familiar and I find that I relate to the various narratives in many ways.

Majority of the book reviews and books discussed on this blog will be from the genres mentioned above. Most of the books I review and discuss are my personal copies and I try my best not to include spoilers. I’m not a writer. I’m just here to share my interests and express my views on the novels I read!

Some reviews, most of the books I’ve read and my to-read list can also be found on my Goodreads account- here.

My book ratings KEY:

★★★★★ (5 stars) – Amazing book, I loved it. Absolutely recommend!

★★★★ (4 stars) – Great book. Highly recommend!

★★★ (3 stars) – Good book. I recommend it, I guess.

★★ (2 stars) – Thumbs down. I do NOT recommend it.

★ (1 star) – meh.

  1. Favourite part of this page was ‘meh.’ Lol.

I’ve got an exciting African-Lit-focused project that I’ll be launching later on this year, your passion for this is infectious so I’d absolutely love to have you involved. I’ll get in touch when I’ve finalised a few things but hopefully it’ll be something you’re interested in 🙂

Really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. All the best and please keep it up!
