WELCOME!
My name is Darkowaa and I’m a Ghanaian-American, currently living where my heart feels most at home – Accra, Ghana.
AFRICAN BOOK ADDICT! was created mid-2014 and it’s dedicated to celebrating BLACK literature through book reviews, book chats with fellow readers & writers, book hauls and more. To me, BLACK literature represents books by writers who identify as African, African-American, Caribbean, Black Brit, Afropean, Afro-Asian, Afro-Latinx – the list goes on!
I chose to call this book blog AFRICAN BOOK ADDICT! because I’ve always been obsessed with books written by people of African descent- writers from Africa and the diaspora.
AFRICAN BOOK ADDICT! is a double-entendre, so it could be read as:
– an African who is a book addict,
OR
– a reader who is addicted to books by writers of African descent.
Most of the books I review and discuss are my personal copies and I try my best not to include spoilers. I’m not a writer – I’m a reader who loves to express my views on the books I read!
My book ratings KEY:
★★★★★ (5 stars) – Amazing book, I loved it. Absolutely recommend!
★★★★ (4 stars) – Great book. Highly recommend!
★★★ (3 stars) – Good book. I recommend it, I guess.
★★ (2 stars) – Thumbs down. I do NOT recommend it.
★ (1 star) – meh.
*Book covers posted are usually via Google Images or taken with my phone.

Really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far. All the best and please keep it up!

I love your blog!! I actually found you while trying to create my travel blog. I can’t wait to read some of the books that you have reviewed. My favorite author is J. California Cooper she has so many books that I enjoy but my all time favorite is Family. I read that book at least once a year. I want to email you to pick your brain about something. Is that okay?

Hey! Thank you! :). I like Cooper as well, but I didn’t really enjoy her collection, ‘Some Love, Some Pain, Sometime’. I bought ‘Family’ from a used bookshop this summer. Hopefully i’ll get to it soon. And yes, please email me 😉
